The Makeup is a step that should not be overlooked when you want to shoot a portrait. To produce a book or for a beauty shooting, it is strongly advised. With the standardization of digital photography, the professional image post-processing techniques has made a considerable leap forward and change a photo, with the right tools and experience, is infinitely easier than at the time of the darkroom. Still, for a natural and realistic rendering, nothing can replace a good job preparation ahead of a photo shooting by a motivated and creative team. The post-processing should be a magnification, not a modification, and without a good make-up, we cannot do miracles.
One might be tempted to undertake self-makeup. Unless you are yourself in the branch … it’s often a bad idea! Indeed, the light emitted during a studio shooting is quite different from the light of the places you usually frequent; at home, at work or even outdoors. Very intense, directed and “inclusive”, it will tend to greatly reduce the intensity of your home makeup, especially around the eyes. The basic mistake would be to force your usual makeup …
In addition to your makeup skills, the same type of products used by professionals are different from those you use every day.
By their artificial light rendering and their held, they are ideal for a photographic shooting. So you stay perfect from the beginning to the end of your session. Even if you want a very natural rendering, professional make-up is recommended. The flash light will also be no concessions for oily skin and highlight bright areas such as the forehead, nose and cheeks if you have not previously applied a base adapted to the areas concerned.

Even though, if you still want to take care of your makeup, the most important aspect that will linger, whether you are a woman or a man, is the brightness. Make sure your skin is as mat as possible because, even with the best will in the world, the brightness is not corrected in post-processing. On the other hand, don’t put a lot of face powder on buttons (you know: those who arrive just before the shooting … traitors !), we will take care of them with photoshop… So, make a standard make-up without thinking to them.

It’s roughly similar for hairdressing; do one’s hairstyle to go to work is not the same as do one’s hairstyle for a shooting. If you come to a beauty session, try to schedule it right after your appointment at your local hairdresser. If you do not want to go to the hairdresser, this service can be done directly at the studio by our professional hairdresser and that, just before the shooting.
As is the case for makeup, in a photo studio, with lighting that we use and the high definition of the pictures, the smallest details are visible and it’s really heartbreaking than having to give up a beautiful portrait because of a rebellious strand of hair or unsightly frizz.
